Fire in the Church Office
On Saturday, July 29th a fire broke out in the office building. Fortunately, no one was in the building at the time. There is substantial fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The office will be closed until further notice. Weekend masses will continue as scheduled as of Sunday, July 30th.
Thank you to all the service men and women who worked so hard to stop the fire, prevent it from spreading and keeping everyone safe!

Mother D'Youville School (EMDYS) is progressing smoothly. Competition is expected for November 2017. Father Arlan and Michelle were able to tour the building and were very impressed! We are all looking forward to it's completion. Great things are about to come!
In celebration of Corpus Christi, we processed around the property of the church with the Eucharist exposed. Followed by BBQ lunch/potluck. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for cooking the hotdogs/hamburgers.

The Holy Door for the Jubilee of Mercy in our diocese is located at St. Joseph Basilica in downtown Edmonton (10044-113 St NW).
What is it?: A Holy Door is a special door in a cathedral, basilica or other parish of special significance that becomes a pilgrimage site during a Jubilee Year. These are usually celebrated every 25 years, although the Pope can designate a Jubilee Year at other times, such as St. Pope John Paul II in 1983 and Pope Francis for the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Walking through the Holy Door during a Jubilee Year is one of the conditions for receiving a Jubilee Indulgence. Learn more about the tradition of Holy Doors here, here and here.
(in this picture is our Pastoral Assistant, Michelle is excited to pass through the door)
Dec. 8th, Fr. Arlan blessed the Mercy Door at L'École St. Vital, along with Principle Sonia Durand.

CWL Snowflake Bazaar
This year's bazaar was a success.
They had 300 tourtiere pies (meat pies) and they were all sold in 21 minutes!!!
A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly for the last several weeks and all those who donated crafts and baked goods. Also, thank you to all who came out to support the bazaar.
We are all looking forward to next year!
Happy All Saints day and Happy All Souls day!
On November 1st, the Feast of All Saints' Day, we had a custom of blessing
the Catholic cemeteries or individual graves. This practice reminds the faithful that our departed brothers and sisters in Christ are in need of our prayers, especially those who
are still in Purgatory.
