Confirmation Registration


Important Dates:

Parent information and registration night: Tuesday, November 5th, 2018 at 7pm

 

Classes on Mondays in the Basement of the church:

Class 1

·       7:00pm – 9:00pm – December 3rd

Class 2

·         7:00pm – 9:00pm – January 7th 

Class 3

·         7:00pm – 9:00pm – February 4th 

Class 4

·         7:00pm – 9:00pm – March 4th 

Class 5

·         7:00pm – 9:00pm – April 1st 

 

Retreat and Extra Dates:
  • Instructional Mass/Rehearsal – Saturday, April 27th  – 9:00am-11:00am
  • Retreat – Saturday, April 27th  – 11:00am – 4:00pm
  • Reconciliation Service – Tuesday, May 7th - 7:00pm- till done
  • Confirmation DAY - Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at 5pm Mass

> Note: Instructional mass, rehearsal, Reconciliation Service and Confirmation DAY are for both children and parents.

All children are required to be in attendance at all classes and the retreat weekend.

Confirmation program is designed for and received by children in Grade 6 or older.

Registrations will be accepted at the registration night in November. Please contact the parish office for more information.

Please remember to submit:
  • Registration Form (at time of registration, due by Nov. 19th)
  • Registration Fee $40 (cash or cheque; at time of registration, due by Nov. 19th)
  • Copy of Baptismal Certificate (at time of registration, due by Nov. 19th)
  • “Consent for photo” form (at time of registration, due by Nov. 19th)
  • Sponsor Form (by first confirmation class, due by Dec. 3rd)
  • Volunteer Hours (at the retreat, due by April 27th)
  • Letter to the Archbishop (the day of Confirmation May 11th)

Parent’s Responsibilities

Homework – Must be done with a parent or sponsor. Engage child with provided questions in workbook and watch videos online or through the app.

Attend mass – Weekend mass attendance is very important (Catechism of the Catholic Church # 2180). There are 3 masses offered each weekend for you to choose from; Saturday (5pm) /Sunday (9am and 11am). If it is not possible, neighboring Parishes (Leduc, Millwoods, The Meadows) offer other time options as well.

Community Service Hours – support and encouragement for your child. Sign off on the time sheet.

Paperwork – Ensure to fill in and return all paperwork at set due dates.

Class Attendance – Ensure your child comes to ALL the classes. If your child will miss due to an extraordinary circumstance, contact Michelle ASAP (phone, text or email). Complete work that was missed in the class.

Prayers and Encouragement – Important to remember, God is our Father and he loves us very much. We need His Grace! Ask for this free gift of grace and continuously pray for your child, the sponsors and the team leaders.  


Confirmand’s Responsibilities

Sponsor – Choose one or two people who are strong in their Catholic Faith. Someone who will encourage you this year and for years to come. Call upon them whenever you have a challenging question or need support and encouragement.

Homework – Must be done with a parent or sponsor. Complete questions in workbook and watch videos online or through the app by the due date.

Attend mass – Weekend mass attendance is very important (Catechism of the Catholic Church # 2180). Encourage your parents to take you every Weekend! You are a part of the Body of Christ and we miss you when you are away!

Community Service Hours – Choose activities that will utilise your gifts and make a positive difference. Somewhere you can really be impactful! Complete 20 hours of service between December to May. Fill in and have parents sign off on the time sheet.

Class Attendance – Show up on time for all the classes and the retreat. Bring your workbook and a bible. Leave all devices at home. Come with a willingness to learn and be open to the Holy Spirit.

Paperwork – Ensure to fill in and return all paperwork at set due dates.

Reconciliation (Confession) – Receive Reconciliation throughout the year. And most importantly, go to confession prior to receiving Confirmation – an opportunity will be available at the retreat weekend. 

 

Prayers and Encouragement – There are many people supporting you on your journey. Be sure to pray for your parents, teachers, team leaders, Fr. Arlan and your fellow confirmands.
